A Behind the Scenes Look
How does JEM handcraft her resin home decor?
STEP 1 - The Mold
The process begins with selecting a silicone mold. Silicone is crucial because it allows the resin to set properly and makes it easy to remove the finished product. I carefully choose molds that suit the design in mind, ensuring that the final product will have the desired shape and details. I then add glitter for color and various items to acheive the desired design features.
STEP 2 - The Prep
Once the mold is ready, I prepare the resin. Precise measurement and mixing are crucial, done with silicone cups and a 5-minute hand mix. The activated resin is then carefully poured into the mold, ensuring a slow, consistent flow to prevent air bubbles and over pouring.
STEP 3 - The Wait
Tick/Tock at the 24-hour mark the resin is ready to remove from the mold. An additional 24 hours outside the mold before the final product is fully cured ready to be someone’s favorite home décor.
